Decision Support System (DSS)

DSS are interactive computer-based systems and subsystems intended to help decision makers use communications technologies, data, documents, knowledge and/or models to complete decision process tasks.

A decision support system (DSS) enable managers to get answers for unanticipated  questions. Teams formed to address large problems use group decision support system (GDSS)

So you know guys actually a decision support system consists of the:
 ~User :The user is who has to make decision  (middle-level management)
 ~System software :In essentially the operating system-program designed to    work behind the scenes to handle detailed operating procedures.
 ~Data : Typically stored in a database and consists of two kind:

  1. Internal data
  2. External data

 ~Decision model : This is give the DSS its analytical capabilities,so there are three basic type:

  1. Strategic
  2. tactical
  3. Operational
